What Is a UCAT Cut Off? 

A UCAT cut-off is the minimum score required by a university to invite an applicant to the next stage, the interview. It is not fixed nationally. Each institution has its own threshold, and it can vary year to year. Usually, this is based on: 

  1. Overall applicant performance in that cycle 
  2. Number of applicants 
  3. Number of interview places available 

Some universities apply a strict numerical cutoff, such as UCL, for 2026 entry, the UCAT Threshold was 2190.  

Certain institutions use a hybrid approach and combine UCAT with GCSEs, or contextual criteria, before establishing their final cutoff, such as King’s College London, University of Leicester and Birmingham University.
