FAQ

1. What UCAT score do I need before booking the Interview Preparation Course?

For Medicine, UCAT scores in the 1600–1700 range may still be worth considering when deciding whether to book the course. Lincoln has previously considered applicants with scores around 1600, while Keele and Sunderland have been closer to 1700, although options at this level are more limited.

But you only need to pass one interview to become a Doctor.

If you are scoring above 1900, you are likely to have a wider range of medical schools to consider. A strong GCSE profile can also help offset a lower UCAT score at universities such as Queen’s University Belfast.

It is important not to wait until you receive an interview invitation before seeking help, as there is a significant amount of material to cover and preparation is most effective when started early.

2. How is a medical school interview course different from practising questions online/AI platforms?

A medical school interview course provides structured, expert-led preparation with personalised feedback, mock interviews and strategies for improving how you communicate your answers. Practising questions online can help you familiarise yourself with common topics, but it does not provide the targeted feedback, challenging follow-ups, specific body language, and confidence advice needed to identify weaknesses and improve your interview technique.

3. Is a medical school interview preparation course worth it?

Yes, for many applicants. A good medical school interview preparation course can improve confidence, structure, communication and performance through targeted teaching, realistic mock interviews and personalised feedback. It is particularly valuable if you are unfamiliar with MMI or panel interview formats or want expert feedback before interview day.

4. When does the 2026/27 course start?

The 2026/27 course begins on Sunday 6th September at 10am with a free session. The formal course then starts on Sunday 20th September – 22nd November. Students will receive full joining instructions and access details before the first session, including access to additional masterclass recordings and handbook.

5. Should I prepare differently for each medical school interview?

Yes. While the core interview skills are the same, each medical school has different values, teaching styles and interview formats. Research the school beforehand and tailor your examples and answers to show why you are a strong fit for that specific programme.

6. What happens if I miss a live session?

If you cannot attend a live session, you will still be able to catch up using the session recording and course materials. This means you can stay on track even if you occasionally have other commitments.

7. Does the course prepare students for both MMI and panel interviews?

Yes. The course prepares students for both Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) and traditional panel interviews. Teaching covers the core skills needed across both formats, including communication, ethical reasoning, motivation for medicine, NHS topics and structured approaches to common interview questions.
